E-Mail "What to Watch for" Rules

AlertMatrix allows the user to watch for email from a specific person. Create a rule where the entire sender's email address is specified in the Sender field while leaving the other criteria settings blank.

Note that AlertMatrix will watch all inbox folders on your BlackBerry in case the sender uses more than one when sending e-mail to you.

Please set up Alerts first, so that they are available on the pull down list when setting up a rule.

AlertMatrix allows the user to watch for email from a specific partial match like a domain or a partial domain address.

Create a rule where the entry in the Sender field is "@anydomain.com" or simply "anydomain".  For best results, make the partial match text as specific as possible while still accomplishing your goal.  The @ symbol is optional.

Consider not checking After Hours so that AlertMatrix can easily silenced when you want it silenced.

In addition to watching for e-mails from a person, the application can also watch for e-mails sent to a person.

This capability is valuable when you want to watch for people on an e-mail's to: or cc: list. For example, you could watch for e-mails sent by your associates to your key customer contact. Other example is to receive a high priority notification when someone copies your manager on an e-mail, giving yourself time to react quickly.

Note that if you want to watch for all e-mails to and from a person (for example, your manager at work), two separate rules must be created.

AlertMatrix scans all to: and cc: entries on an email. Bcc: is not scanned as that information is not available when someone else sends the message.

In much the same way as setting up the watch rules for e-mails from a company, AlertMatrix makes it simple to watch e-mails sent to a specific company or domain.

Enter a partial email address to be alerted of all messages that match. Any e-mail that matches will trigger your desired alert profile.

Note that if you want to watch for all e-mails to and from a company (for example, your best customer company), two separate rules must be created.

In this example, every email sent to (or cc: to) @verybigcustomer.com will trigger the AlertMatrix "Default" alert event.

A very powerful feature of AlertMatrix is to convert your BlackBerry into a smart, programmable pager.

AlertMatrix scans the subject of each e-mail. If the text of the subject matches a rule, the event is triggered.

While any subject text can be watched, creating rules for emergencies is an important benefit of AlertMatrix.

In this example, AlertMatrix is looking for 911 to appear anywhere in the subject.
